There is a plethora of shows for every taste. We have not begun to see them all but our personal favorites are Pierce Arrow (Oak Ridge Boys style music and a hilarious comedian) www.piercearrowtheater.com and SIX ( various music styles performed by 6 very talented brothers! If the Texas Tenors are in town, they are well worth a visit.
We also found RAIDING THE COUNTRY VAULT — www.starlitetheater.com —to be a wonderful, classic country show.
Jim Stafford is a well-known name—but don’t pass over the gem by thinking that he is cheesy and his theater is old. www.jimstaffordtickets.com This theater is home to some of the most amazing shows in town!! We’ve been welcomed to their theater and their shows and all I can say is WOW! The theater is an older one—but it has been well maintained and nicely updated. We have had the most enjoyable experiences there! The staff has all been warm, helpful, and friendly. We love feeling like they value our presence!! The first show we saw this year at this theater was The Magic and Comedy of Taylor Reed. We were with our family and our little Lincoln cannot stay awake in the afternoon if he sits still. On the way there, his eyes were heavy. But once the show started, he woke up and was totally engrossed for the entire time! I’ve never seen anyone keep him awake like that! The show was awesome! And Heartland country is a very nice show as well!! Of course, don’t miss Jim Stafford himself when he is there. I hesitate to mention this—but it made a big impression on me. The bathroom is one room we all visit during a show. (ha) I just want to say this bathroom renovation is amazing!!! It is beautifully renovated--clean and roomy! Super nice!!
The Baldknobbers www.baldknobbers.com and The Presleys www.presleys.com are the two original shows in Branson and give you a good flavor of how it all started here. Both are good shows—we personally like the Presleys a little better. The Baldknobbers has moved from their original theater on the strip and are now performing at the Branson Famous Theater. (check their location before going as this may change.)
The Showboat Branson Belle www.showboatbransonbelle.com/ is very nice. It is a cruise on Tablerock Lake along with a meal and show. The entire experience is always very entertaining and they are always changing things to keep it current and fun! A pirate and princess cruise was recently added for the young at heart.
The Sight and Sound Theater www.sight-sound.com does an exceptional job of putting on a high quality, inspiring musical. This year is the story of Jonah and is excellent. We saw their Noah production several times and were always very impressed. We didn’t know if their next production of Joseph could ever top it. But WOW !! We think it did! We were blessed to see Joseph and were absolutely overwhelmed with the performance!! After that came Jonah and Moses. All extremely impressive performances! Samson is new in 2018 and – believe me—it will not disappoint. It is amazing!!! At Christmas time—The Miracle of Christmas—is also awesome. The sound, the sets, the acting, and of course-the music was all over the top!! It is not typical Branson/hillbilly fare but it certainly provides a different flavor than the other shows. It is a little expensive but if you like a Broadway style musical with a strong ministry element- it is a must see! They also do a backstage tour on certain days.
At the Lawrence Welk theater, the show MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET www.mdqbranson.com is a bit different, but an excellent show. It provides history of some well-known legends with acting and music. If you like live drama, history, and old-time rock and roll—this show is a must-see!
With a nod to political correctness, Dixie Stampede has now become Dolly Parton’s Stampede. We have not seen it since the change. We loved it in the past. I personally can’t say at this time. It has been very popular-horses, etc and a nice meal. www.dpstampede.com/branson
